PETER GODDARD | MANAGING DIRECTOR
A founding partner of TRI in 1995, his areas of specialisation include site analysis and planning; market analysis and demand forecasting; facilities recommendations; prospective financial analyses; valuations; management and contract negotiations; investment and sensitivity analysis; and tourism development and master planning. Such continuous exposure to, and study of, hotel, tourism and real estate industries has provided Peter with an extensive background and understanding of the feeder markets, demand generators and other key factors affecting future demand levels and characteristics, optimal market positioning for facilities and demand capture. In his role as Managing Director of TRI, Peter has overseen more than 750 assignments across the region. A frequent speaker at hotel, resort and tourism industry-related conferences, he is often quoted in trade magazines. Prior to his consulting experience, Peter was a General Manager of a number of hotels and resorts in Australia. Peter is a graduate of the University of Sydney, where he obtained a Bachelor of Economics and undertook post graduate studies at Cornell University in New York specialising in hotel development and design and hospitality industry real estate.
RASHID ABOOBACKER | DIRECTOR
Rashid has over six years’ experience in hotels, tourism and real estate consulting. During this period, he has advised individual and institutional developers including government agencies on real estate and hotel developments, prepared market entry and expansion strategies for hotel operators and performed operator selection for several prestigious projects across the region. Over the years, Rashid has undertaken nearly 100 studies across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
Rashid is frequently quoted by mainstream media on topics related to current and future trends in the tourism and hospitality sector in major GCC markets.
Rashid’s previous experience is grounded by positions in financial services, research and real estate. Having started his career at the mortgage division of the Standard Chartered Bank in Bangalore, prior to joining TRI, Rashid headed a research team at Thomson Financial (now Thomson Reuters) with coverage spanning the financial services markets of North America and E.M.E.A. Apart from skills gained in market research, analysis and reporting, the role also garnered him knowledge of content development, process management and quality control procedures.
CHRISTOPHER HEWETT | DIRECTOR
Christopher has over seven years of hotel and real estate advisory experience across the MENA region. He has advised clients on various assignments throughout the region encompassing market and financial feasibility studies, highest and best use feasibility studies, operational reviews, operator selection and negotiation, strategic development plans and valuations. He adopts a pragmatic and rational approach to unique hotel and real estate projects, guiding clients through the various stage of the development lifecycle. In addition to his consulting activities, Christopher oversees the marketing and public relations activities of TRI and is a regular commentator on the regional hotel and tourism industry, frequently appearing in various media outlets as well as presenting and participating in industry conferences, exhibitions and events. Prior to his consulting experience, Christopher gained over 10 years of hotel operational experience with senior management roles in various hotels and resorts in New Zealand, Australia and Dubai. Christopher is graduate of The Blue Mountains Hotel School in Australia, where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce in Hospitality and Tourism Management. He is currently expanding his technical knowledge and skills in real estate development and valuation and was recently awarded a Certificate of Commercial Property Valuation from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
SEMEEN GHAZI | RESEARCH MANAGER
Since joining TRI in 1998, Semeen has worked on more than 1,000 research assignments across all of TRI’s markets across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
A Masters graduate in Journalism from the University of Karachi, Semeen started her career in Dubai with the daily newspaper Gulf News and later joined the monthly magazine ‘Emirates Today’, published by the Dubai Government as Editor / Reporter, where she worked for ten years.
Prior to that, she worked for the Sindh Information Department in Karachi. Semeen is responsible for collecting and maintaining TRI’s hotel performance database covering the entire hotel industry across the region. In addition to the bespoke research she conducts for TRI’s assignment, Semeen is also responsible for collecting real estate, retail, tourism & hotel statistics and data from government, tourism, civil aviation and other relevant authorities.
Semeen’s extensive knowledge of the GCC and Middle East markets coupled with her analytical and influencing skills is a key asset for TRI and allows the firm to remain a market leader in providing up to date and relevant information, statistics and data to the firm’s clients and partners.
KISHORE PULIBANDLA | FINANCIAL CONSULTANT
Kishore has over ten years’ experience in investment advisory, corporate finance and financial consulting with a strong focus on commercial real estate and associated sectors. Over the years, he has advised private and institutional investors on feasibility studies, valuations, financial due diligence, project finance, budgets and business plans, and asset management. His commercial real estate sector exposure includes retail, office, hospitality, industrial, and education and healthcare assets. Kishore has working experience in the markets of India, USA, East Africa and the Middle East. His Middle East experience includes feasibility studies and valuations for large mixed use properties, hotels, and resorts, residential, education, and healthcare. Kishore’s previous association with JP Morgan involve real estate investment analysis including acquisitions and asset management of commercial real estate investments for US commingled funds.
PHILIPPE VERCRUYSSE | CONSULTANT
Philippe joined TRI in 2017 after graduating from the Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland, where he obtained a BBA with Honours in Hospitality Management, specialising in Finance, Real Estate, and Revenue Management. Prior to his higher education, Philippe gained valuable operational experience by overseeing two bar pre-openings in Brussels and completing two industry placements during his time at Glion, first at the Centara Grand Hotel in Bangkok, and second within in the financial department of the Waldorf Astoria in Amsterdam. Philippe brings to TRI key knowledge of hotel operations as well as up to date hotel finance standards and practices.
YANI EFTIMOV | ANALYST
Yani joined TRI in 2018 after graduating with a Signet Prize for the ‘Best Final-Year Student’ within the International Tourism Management Faculty from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom. Yani’s exposure to the tourism and hospitality industry dates back to his pre-university years when he gained in-depth knowledge in hotel operations by working as a Front-desk Administrator at a number of internationally-renowned hospitality entities in Bulgaria. During the course of his studies, Yani completed a fourteen-month industry placement, working as a Hospitality, Tourism and Real Estate Analyst at PKF The Consulting House, Dubai. As part of his consultancy experience, Yani has been involved in a number of highest and best use and feasibility studies in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the wider ME region. Areas of specialization include the conduct of macro- and micro-environmental research, sector reviews, market analyses and forecasts, competitive benchmarking and site analyses.
KHAREN VILLANUEVA | ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER & PERSONAL ASSISTANT TO MD
Kharen joined TRI in 2016 and brings a wealth of experience in the real estate industry. Prior to joining TRI, she was an administrative and HR assistant for a large real estate firm where she was responsible for general office and human resource duties. Before moving to Dubai in 2014, Kharen was an administration officer for the largest branch of Western Union in the Philippines where she developed her extensive administrative skills and knowledge. Since joining TRI, Kharen has been involved in overall administrative functions in the company which includes providing support for the whole TRI Team. Kharen has Bachelor Degree in Psychology from the Lyceum of the Philippines University.
