PETER GODDARD | MANAGING DIRECTOR
A founding partner of TRI in 1995, his areas of specialisation include site analysis and planning; market analysis and demand forecasting; facilities recommendations; prospective financial analyses; valuations; management and contract negotiations; investment and sensitivity analysis; and tourism development and master planning. Such continuous exposure to, and study of, hotel, tourism and real estate industries has provided Peter with an extensive background and understanding of the feeder markets, demand generators and other key factors affecting future demand levels and characteristics, optimal market positioning for facilities and demand capture.
In his role as Managing Director of TRI, Peter has overseen more than 1,400 assignments across the region. A frequent speaker at hotel, resort and tourism industry-related conferences, he is often quoted in trade magazines. Prior to his consulting experience, Peter was a General Manager of a number of hotels and resorts in Australia. He is a graduate of the University of Sydney, where he obtained a Bachelor of Economics and undertook post graduate studies at Cornell University in New York specialising in hotel development and design and hospitality industry real estate.
PHILIP MERTENS | DIRECTOR
Philip has over 30 years of hotel, tourism and real estate expertise. His areas of specialisation include site analysis and planning; market analysis and demand forecasting; facilities recommendations and planning; prospective financial analyses; management, franchise and joint venture contract negotiations; strategy and business planning; operations performance improvement; owner representation; project planning and management; due diligence; hands-on hotel operations experience and tourism development and master planning.
Philip has extensive experience with hotels, resorts and all manner of real estate and consultancy projects across the Middle East, Australasia, Europe, Africa and the US. Over the past decade, Philip has held senior executive positions with Qatar National Hotels, Sorouh Real Estate, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, a major African sovereign wealth fund and run his own specialised advisory business. Over this period, Philip has also supported TRI on numerous assignments across the MENA Region and Africa.
JOE GODDARD | DIRECTOR
Joe has over 30 years of marina and mixed-use development experience across the MENA region, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. His project experience includes planning and developing maritime infrastructure for government authorities and commercial property developers.
Joe is a commercial ships master, an International certified marina manager and attained an Aero-Nautical Engineering degree from the University of New South Wales in Australia. He has extensive knowledge of the day-to-day maritime operations including yacht clubs, recreational marina berthing, boat yards, infrastructure maintenance, commercial leasing, finance and logistics. He is a passionate yachtsman with a 20 + year association with the marine sector.
KISHORE PULIBANDLA | FINANCIAL CONSULTANT
Kishore has over ten years’ experience in investment advisory, corporate finance and financial consulting with a strong focus on commercial real estate and associated sectors. Over the years, he has advised private and institutional investors on feasibility studies, valuations, financial due diligence, project finance, budgets and business plans, and asset management. His commercial real estate sector exposure includes retail, office, hospitality, industrial, and education and healthcare assets.
Kishore has working experience in the markets of India, USA, East Africa and the Middle East. His Middle East experience includes feasibility studies and valuations for large mixed use properties, hotels, and resorts, residential, education, and healthcare. Kishore’s previous association with JP Morgan involve real estate investment analysis including acquisitions and asset management of commercial real estate investments for US commingled funds.
YANI EFTIMOV | SENIOR CONSULTANT
Yani joined TRI in 2018 after graduating with a Signet Prize for the ‘Best Final-Year Student’ from the International Tourism Management Faculty at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom. Yani’s exposure to the tourism and hospitality industry dates back to his pre-university years when he gained in-depth knowledge in hotel operations by working as a Front-desk Administrator at a number of internationally renowned hospitality entities in Bulgaria. During the course of his studies, Yani completed a fourteen-month industry placement, working as a Hospitality, Tourism and Real Estate Analyst at PKF The Consulting House, Dubai.
As part of his consultancy experience, Yani has been involved in multiple highest and best use, feasibility and strategic advisory studies in the Middle East and beyond, including some of the region’s most notable blue-chip master-planned projects. Areas of specialization include tourism master planning reviews, project concept development, competitive benchmarking, hotel operator sensing, project site assessments, market performance projections and bespoke market research.
HOOMAN YOUSEF ZADEH | CONSULTANT
Hooman has worked with TRI on multiple assignments over the past three years, assisting the team in conducting detailed market and financial feasibility studies across the MENA region. He is fluent in English, Farsi and French, and is therefore capable of conducting in-depth on-the-ground research, ensuring our clients receive unparalleled market intelligence. Hooman’s association with consulting dates back to his post-graduate days when he was employed with Deloitte, in Paris, conducting numerous assignments for the public sector. His specialties included Environmental Impact Assessments, evaluating environmental policies and regulations for the European Commission.
Hooman holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Queen Mary University, London, United Kingdom. In addition, he has Master of Science Degree in Project Management for Environmental and Energy Engineering from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Mines, Nantes, France.
ANATOLE CHAPPUIS | ANALYST
Anatole joined TRI in 2020, after having accumulated nearly five years of experience in the travel and tourism industries. Prior to joining TRI he was based Geneva where he held key roles for a leading global private jet broker. Erstwhile, Anatole gained in-depth exposure to the hospitality industry by working at leading international luxury properties such as the W Hotel in Barcelona and the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Dubai.
Anatole is a graduate of the Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland, where he obtained a BBA with Honours in Hospitality Management with a specialization in Luxury Branding and Management. Since joining TRI, Anatole has been involved with several high-profile tourism projects, assisting the team with detailed market analysis and financial modeling.
KHAREN VILLANUEVA | ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER & PERSONAL ASSISTANT TO MD
Kharen joined TRI in 2016 and brings a wealth of experience in the real estate industry. Prior to joining TRI, she was an administrative and HR assistant for a large real estate firm where she was responsible for general office and human resource duties. Before moving to Dubai in 2014, Kharen was an administration officer for the largest branch of Western Union in the Philippines where she developed her extensive administrative skills and knowledge. Since joining TRI, Kharen has been involved in overall administrative functions in the company which includes providing support for the whole TRI Team. Kharen has Bachelor Degree in Psychology from the Lyceum of the Philippines University.
